CEAS Receives 2008 Award of Merit from WorkLife BC
Creative Employment Access Society (CEAS) not only talks the talk but walks the walk. Best known for its popular Comox Valley employment service, The Job Shop, CEAS recently received an Award of Merit from Work Life BC, a program of the Ministry of Children and Family Development (www.worklifebc.ca). At its second annual awards event, WorkLife BC recognized employers who have developed workplaces that support their employees to balance commitments to work and family.
Adopting this approach to human resource management has benefitted CEAS by enabling them to retain their well-educated and experienced staff, who have flourished in their flexible work environment. Employees’ work hours have been carefully scheduled to accommodate other important aspects of their life, such as childcare, volunteer work, recreation, and continuing education. As a result, Comox Valley job seekers are served by an energized staff of 20 who treat their clients as they are treated—with respect.
“We were very pleased to receive the recognition for our efforts from Worklife BC. It confirms that we are on the right track,” says Bruce Brautigan, CEAS Executive Director. “For the last eight years, we have been working on helping our staff find the time for their personal needs while not taking away from our operational requirements. We have developed policies, software and systems to enable maximum flexibility for our staff while maintaining a high level of service for our clients. We are more than willing to share our expertise with employers who are interested in implementing better work-life balance in their workplace.” For more information call Bruce at 334-3425 ext 316.
