August 28, 2008, Comox – The Anderton Therapeutic Gardens was the venue for this month’s Chamber Business Mixer. Over 35 Comox Valley Chamber members attended the event - to tour the Gardens, meet the ATGS Board and network with other members. “We were very pleased with the turn out,” said ATGS Board Chair Donnamae Ireland. “It was an opportunity for us to showcase the Gardens to Chamber members, not only as a place to visit, but also as potential meeting place away from the office or business.”

Judging by comments from Chamber members like “what a great idea to come to the Gardens for a mixer” and “I didn’t know this was here,” the ATGS Board felt that the event accomplished its goal of introducing the Gardens to an entirely new audience. CVCC President Gen McNamee said “I will certainly make sure my parents get here, especially to see the pond.”

The Chamber Mixer was also an opportunity for Coastal Community Credit Union manager Terry Hills to present a $500 cheque which will go towards a much needed garden chipper. “What a change since I was here three years ago, when our staff came out to weed,” said Hills at the presentation. Along with additional donations from the Cumberland and Comox Rotary Clubs, the ATGS Board is grateful to the community, and will be able to purchase the new equipment before the end of the season.

The ATGS Board would like to thank the Chamber members for coming and to Corae Bracken, CVCC Membership Coordinator for her help in putting the Chamber Mixer together.  “It’s a wonderful oasis designed for a quiet stroll, meditation or a breather from the everyday bustle,” said Gerry Chewlos, Chair of the CVCC Marketing Committee who was impressed with the extent of the Gardens.

Anderton Therapeutic Gardens is open to the public until the end of September from 10:00 – 4:00, seven days a week, and is located behind Anderton Nursery on 2012 Anderton Road, Comox.
