Judith Round Joins CVAC

Ken Dawson, Chair of the Comox Valley Airport Commission, is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Judith Round to the Commission. “The selection committee was impressed with Judith’s wide array of skills and experience. Judith will be a great addition to our team of Directors.” states Dawson.

Before moving to the Valley, Round was president and chief executive of one of the largest community colleges in England and also held the post of national president of the Association of College Management.   She has substantial board experience with Crown Corporations and universities in the UK, and also represented Britain on the board of the UNESCO Institute of Education in Hamburg (Germany).

Round has researched, written or edited several reports and action plans for non-profit organizations and government bodies in both Canada and the UK; and has also been chair of an economic development organization seeking to attract jobs and investment to a metropolitan region of northern England.

Locally, Round is vice-chair of the board of governors of North Island College and also vice-chair of Comox Valley Community Adult Literacy and Learning Society.

Round lives just north of Courtenay and is a partner with her husband, Philip, in Round2it, a writing, editing and publicity business. She holds a Master of Arts (Economics) degree and also a certified diploma in accounting and finance.  She is a frequent international traveler, particularly to meet with her two sons and three grandchildren who live in London (England) and Florence (Italy).

In response to her new appointment, Round commented: “It is now more than 20 years since I first flew in to Comox Valley Airport as a tourist, and after several repeat vacations over the years, my husband and I chose to make our home here.  I have seen the airport grow from its humble roots in the old building to the showcase it is today. The airport’s continued success will be vital in stimulating further economic development of the area while at the same time providing an invaluable amenity for local people travelling both from and to the Island.”
