Mentorship program

Chamber/NIC Mentorship Program

The North Island College School of Business / Chamber of Commerce Mentorship Program was launched in fall of 2014, with the aim of connecting top business students with working professionals, sparking imagination, fostering community connections and building intercultural intelligence.

Student mentees meet with mentors in the business community from November to April, developing a personalized plan with a time commitment of six meetings or six hours minimum over the mentorship period. While mentees build networking skills and gain valuable business contacts, mentors have the opportunity to share their own knowledge and experience with a new generation of business leaders while tapping in to the students’ theoretical knowledge of current business trends.

The Purpose and Goals of the Mentorship Program
  • To connect current business students with working professionals to increase or expand their community connections; to connect chamber members with students to provide fresh perspectives and access to talent.
  • To further increase student networking and communication skills; to encourage better cross cultural understanding of various best practices in networking
  • To facilitate the exchange of knowledge and new business trends and developments (domestically and internationally)
  • To assist in linking NIC School of Business faculty and students with Industry; to assist the Chamber in connecting with specific demographic and future business leaders. Mentees are informed that this is not a job placement program.

Applications will open August 2020 for the 2020-2021 cohort. Submitting the Mentorship Program form does not guaranteed that you will be matched with a mentee. To learn more contact Kirra at marketing@comoxvalleychamber.com
