Conditions The Member Services Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director. This is a part-time 20 hours/week position. Currently the Chamber is a remote-first operation, however, this position requires the candidate to liaise in-person with businesses local to the Comox Valley. Applicants with complementary skillsets can combine areas of work with the other open Chamber position of either Communications Director/Events Coordinator. General Accountability The Communications Director will be the voice of the Comox Valley Chamber. Utilizing e-news, social media, website and traditional print, radio and on-screen media, they communicate the range of Chamber offerings to raise the profile of the Chamber and support the Comox Valley business community. Organization and Structure of the Chamber The Communications Director reports directly to the Executive Director (E.D.) and works among a team of staff. The Chamber’s Board of Directors operates under the policy governance model. This means that only the E.D. is accountable to the board. All other staff members report to the E.D. and are not directed by any board member. Tasks are delegated to staff through the E.D. Currently the Chamber is a remote-first operation, however, this position requires the candidate to liaise with businesses and attend events local to the Comox Valley. Nature and Scope of the Position The Communications Director has a keen eye for detail and a competency in written, visual and spoken communications. They are able to produce specific material on a deadline while keeping the ‘big picture’ in mind. Under the direction of the E.D. the Communications Director manages all public and member communications, staying true to the Comox Valley Chamber brand and values. Regular Duties

Events CoordinatorWe are hiring an events coordinator.
To apply, submit your resume and cover letter with references to executivedirector@comoxvalleychamber.com Position Summary The Events Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all events related to the Chamber and will support efforts towards marketing and membership. Events include: monthly business-after-business events; an annual general meeting; awards gala; seminars; luncheons; roundtables; breakfast sessions and other special events to raise the profile of the Chamber and support the Comox Valley business community. Organization and Structure of the Chamber The Events Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director (E.D.). Depending on the project, the Events Coordinator may be responsible to assist volunteer task forces or committees as deemed by the E.D. As well, depending on the project, other staff members may be called upon to assist with additional event support. Currently the Chamber is a remote-first operation, however, this position requires the candidate to host events local to the Comox Valley. Nature and Scope of the Position The Events Coordinator is goal oriented, organized, a self-starter and thrives at working in a positive team environment. The Events Coordinator has a proven ability to manage various promotional and association related events in cooperation with volunteers while adhering to budgetary limitations. The primary responsibility of the Events Coordinator is the coordinating and conducting of Chamber events, collaborative member events, and working with Marketing to ensure consistent event roll-out. The Events Coordinator works closely with Marketing, Communications, & Membership staff as well as Chamber members and the business community. Specific Accountabilities -Coordinate all events related to the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce -Keep and update an annual calendar of all events -Create a budget for each event and adhere to same -Coordinate staff and volunteer support for all events -Ensure accurate records are kept of each event (databases, files, etc) -Arrange venues, caterers, suppliers, insurance and equipment -Book all special speakers and/or hosts -Ensure each event is profitable -Submit a written report of each event to the E.D. Event Details -6-12 Business after Business events per year -Minimum 1 trade show per year -Annual Awards Gala -Community Leaders Round Table -Annual Board election in March -Annual General Meeting in April -One all-candidates forum per election -Seminars, luncheons or breakfast session, special events as required Duties -Establish and maintain relationships with sponsors and suppliers as they relate to Chamber events -Ensure suppliers are contacted on a regular basis -Seek a competitive price for quality goods and service delivery -Ensure positive and mutually beneficial sponsor relations -Maintain a high level of understanding in events, association events management and marketing trend -Participate in staff training -Study other chambers and their events best practices -Stay on trend or be a leader with fundraising -Provide general office support as required as delegated by the E.D. -Work within a team environment and assist others as needed QUALIFICATIONS
